Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organisation dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Working in 30 countries throughout the world, Concern expends over €100 million a year to help people achieve major improvements in their lives.
Internal Auditing (2006 – 2008)
I was the outsourced provider of internal audit services to Concern during a 3-year contract. The scope of work was:
- Internal audit reviews of operational and financial internal controls, including:
- Reviews of internal financial controls over income and programme disbursements
- Validity of financial reporting
- Accuracy and validity of accounting for fundraising income, programme and administrative expense and disbursements
- Security of treasury and banking functions
- I.T. information security, continuity of financial and operational systems
- Similar scope reviews at partner organisations funded by Concern
- Related reporting to management and the Audit Committee
Enterprise Risk Management (2006)
- Assistance in the development and implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management strategy

Accord’s principal objectives are to help couples prepare for, achieve and sustain their marriage and family relationships, and to offer ongoing relationship support and assist them in times of difficulty or crisis, through its Marriage and Relationship Counselling and Marriage Preparation Programmes.
